ABOUT US

Our mission is crystal clear - we're here to support Black andLatina transgender women and make sure they have access to the HIV care they need and deserve. It's time to break down the barriers, challenge the status quo, and focus on the real issues. Here's the tea. we're all about centering the experiences of our BLACK AND BROWN TRANS SIBLINGS!!

Our mission is rooted in the principle of “nothing about us without us”. We have a Collaborative that is leading this study’s planning and evaluation decision-making process through a series of monthly meetings. To see more information about who makes up our collaborative is under our “So, who are we?” tab.

We will enroll a total of 125 Black and Latina transgender women who live in San Diego county and they will become our cohort throughout the 4-yearlong study. We will use this cohort of women to evaluate their sustained engagement with HIV services.

Our Collaborative will then develop and evaluate an intervention of their choice that our cohort of 125 women will go through and see if there was a change to their engagement to HIV services.

So, who are we?

We're a team of academics, community organizations, and of course, the fiercest Black and Latina transgender women who are ready to tackle the HIV epidemic head-on. We're deep-diving into the roots of the crisis, addressing the racism and misogyny that's fueling it. HIV isn't the only issue we're taking on - we're also calling out and combating violence and stigma around sex work.
